I was selected through a competitive application process as one of 16 artists making up Spruill Studios' first-ever cohort, and this is officially my first studio space. The mix of artists in this group works across an incredible range of disciplines — acrylic painting, sculpture, pottery, ink painting, digital animation and film, mural work, and even 3D printing.
The studios themselves live inside the former Chamblee City Hall, which Spruill Center for the Arts partnered with the City of Chamblee to turn into this creative hub. At the grand opening on June 13, 2026, Chamblee's mayor called it an exciting time for downtown Chamblee and the arts community, and standing in that building, I felt it.
Having my own studio for the first time feels like a real milestone. It gives me the space to keep telling the stories I tell through my art, and every person who walks through that door gets me a little closer to my purpose.
The neighborhood itself is a bonus — restaurants, art, and culture all around, plus an H Mart close enough that my rewards card is in trouble. Thank you to Spruill Arts and Spruill Gallery, and especially to Shannon Morris and Emily Walker, for making our move-in so smooth.
