This was my first solo show, held in November 2023. I told the story of a near-death experience in sequence — before birth, through life, into death, and what came after — building the whole show around that arc.
It was emotional to put together. My dad had passed away just a few months before, and here I was creating an entire show about death. Some days it felt like I was processing two things at once: his loss and my own experience of nearly dying.
I'm still proud of myself for completing this show. It came together as over 20 pieces, and I'm endlessly thankful for the curators who helped make it happen.
One of the most meaningful moments came during the artist talk. Someone in the audience started crying because they had never seen their type of art represented in a gallery before, and for the first time, they felt seen. That moment has stayed with me.
